Angelbreathhi, may i ask something?15:48
tbayenHi15:49
tbayenYou may ask whatever you want. I am not sure of we can give you an answer. ;)15:49
Angelbreathi m trying to install Adempiere in windows xp. Actually after having problems with almost everything (java , PostgresSQL etc) i managed to install it15:57
Angelbreathbut i m stack in the connection screen as it doesnt "like"  localhost and 1099 port....:)15:57
Angelbreathit doesnt like the database options too (as i can manage) but this is next step....!15:58
tbayenAre you installing adempiere or idempiere?16:08
Angelbreathadempiere by Windows installer...16:10
tbayenIf you are having problems with "almost everything" I wonder if your level of experience is a bit too low for running a whole idempiere installation. This is an extensive ERP system and has a quite steep learning curve.16:10
tbayenSnd this here is the idempiere chat :-) not adempiere. I did not work with adempiere for years. I don't know what the installer is like today. And I would not recommend it. ADempiere must be full of performance and security issues - because we solved so much of them since the fork.16:11
tbayenIf you want to play with it I recommend trying the idempiere demo at http://demo.idempiere.com16:12
Angelbreathmy level is ok. I had problems that shouldnt be in a clean windows installation. For example it wasnt work with java sdk 8 (was installed in pc) and even if i installed sdk 6, and pointed enviroment to it , eas refused to see it16:12
Angelbreathi had to uninstall ALL java versions, clean all registry manual, and then reinstall to make it see the enviroment16:12
tbayenIf you are really interested someone can set up a personal cloud installation for you. That will keep you away from the installation problems and you can focus on the configuration problems. - These will be hard enough. :-D16:13
tbayenPersonally I don't touch windows. It seems I am not so wrong with this. ;-)16:13
tbayenI recommend you to try idempiere at http://sourceforge.net/projects/idempiere/files/v2.1/server/.16:14
Angelbreathwell i agree with you about windows, but supposed that a windows installer should work almost out of the box. I ve installed many erp systems before with no problem16:15
tbayenThere is also a windows installer with an automatic install. If you are a bit experienced I recommend to use the sourceforge zip version and install it manually. You will get easier help here because the developers do not use the windows installer.16:15
Angelbreathits a different installer than adempiere?16:16
tbayenPlease - don't blame me for the ADempiere installer. This is a totally different project with different people. We do not want to be responsible for their code.16:17
tbayenTry that for an windows installer: http://wiki.idempiere.org/en/IDempiere_Windows_Installer16:17
Angelbreathoh.... sorry,  i dont blame nobody...sorry if was sound like that16:17
Angelbreathidempiere installer is server-client in same pc?16:18
tbayenAll experienced and resourceful developers are with iDempiere. It is just that some guy stayed there, took the name and try to advertise their bad maintanied code under the old, gloryful name. :-)16:19
tbayenI am really not sure what exactly is included in the windows installer. But after looking through the wikipage I would say yes - you have server and client.16:19
tbayenYou should know that you really need only one of these. The client works without the server - direct on the database.16:20
Angelbreathok , i see....i ll try the idempiere installer just to be fair.... and i ll tell you if it worked better hehehehe as i think i m in a middle of a "war" here...16:21
Angelbreathkidding16:21
tbayenThe "server" creates a web-ui (zk), working with many users at the same time. The "client" creates a swing ui, working on one pc (or more, but every client independent).16:21
tbayenOh, sorry when I talked like in a war. The war is over for a very long time. All wounds are healed and the troops went back to their real work. But sometimes someone touches a nerve. Sorry...16:22
tbayenThe most active developers work on the zk server. So for a new begin it might be the best to start the server and go to http://localhost:8080/webui/. That's it.16:23
tbayenDid you try the demo?16:23
Angelbreathdemo of Adempiere or iDempiere?16:26
Angelbreathdo you think its better to uninstall java and PostgreSQL and let installer do the job? or let them as they are?16:30
tbayendemo of idempiere. You find the official demo at http://demo.idempiere.com16:33
tbayenIf you say you know what you are doing and installed everything fine it should work. The installer page says that it find out if these things are already installed.16:34
tbayenI am not a windows user so I can not help much here. Using debian I install the needed deb package and everything works. ;-)16:34
Angelbreathyea i read it... i ll try first as it is....16:35
tbayenUnder Debian you have to do some things on the peostgres server to get a postgres admin login. Are you sure you can access the database via a local tcp port and have a password for the "postgres" user?16:35
Angelbreathyea with pgadmin i have completely access in database16:36
tbayenThe graphic setup (chapter "Configure iDempiere") has a "Test" button. That will tell you if you can reach the database with the given credentials.16:37
tbayenIf pgadmin works it seems ok. Try it out!16:37
Angelbreathhmmm already stacked in second step...the postgres password.... ok i ll try it out and i ll tell you my impressions...16:38

angelbreathsuppose to be localhost and 1099 port17:06
angelbreathi have access to the new database (via pgadmin)17:08
angelbreathexactly same as Adempiere....:( really disapointing that an installation is too hard17:26

angelbreathtoo close to make it work.... anyone can give a small help?17:43
tbayenrehi...17:58
tbayenWhat exact is the error message you get?17:59
tbayenFirst guess: Is there already a server running (did you try several times)? If the port is already used there is a message like that on linux.17:59
angelbreathconnection error 1000 the connector failed to connect18:01
angelbreathi made a restart so it suppose to not be used18:01
tbayenis the error in the configuration? does the test show everything green? is the error when starting the server?18:02
angelbreathits in the connection screen....only the test application server18:05
angelbreathtest database its ok green, but application server (tried localhost, computer name ) port 1099 not working18:06
tbayenI am not sure which version you are working with. The "application server port" used to be 1099. But as I know it is no more used. And when I look into the screenshot on the wikipage about the windows installer I see no field for the application server port. Does your configuration window look like in the wikipage?18:08
angelbreathgive me the link to be sure we see same thing pls18:09
tbayenhttp://wiki.idempiere.org/en/IDempiere_Windows_Installer18:09
tbayenChapter "Configure iDempiere"18:09
tbayenIn former times (and in ADempiere) there was a field for an "application server port". afair that was 1099. But it is no more used and it is no more in the config window.18:10
tbayenI wonder why you talk about 1099 error?18:11
angelbreathhttp://wiki.idempiere.org/en/File:Idempiere_swing_client_dbcheck.png18:12
angelbreathsome talk about 109918:12
tbayenAhhh... You are using the swing client?18:13
tbayenDid you start the server before?18:14
angelbreathi made a windows installation...so the only think i had was client, and only swing ui18:15
tbayenI talked about this: http://wiki.idempiere.org/en/File:Idempiere_first_configuration_ok.png18:15
tbayenDid you successfully finish this window?18:16
angelbreathi m trying to find out how to start the server manually.... i had this options with adempiere installation. with yours it starts with swing18:17
tbayenYou can think of server and client as two very different programs to use the same database. We have to decide which one we use. For a new installation I would recommend using the server via a web browser because it is more developed in the last time. But Swing is still working and stable.18:19
tbayenIf your window is the swing config window...18:19
tbayen...try to set the "application port" to an empty value.18:19
tbayenThe "application port" is 1099. It allows to connect a client and a server. But it is not used for anything important (chat and such stuff). But if the client tries to connect and the server does not have the port open that can be annoying. If you are able to ignore the message it will be save. If not try to enter an empty value.18:21
angelbreathi run the bat file as you saw in the picture and saved the configuration, everything is ok18:22
angelbreathnow i ll try the port issue again18:22
tbayenIf you want to try out the server - there is a script called "setup.sh" with linux. Under Windows I think it will be "setup.bat". Start that and it will open the dialog that I showed you. After that dialog the server is configured. Then you can start the server with the "idempiere-server.bat" script. Then use your browser and go to http://localhost:8080/18:23
angelbreathok , server started and i have access....so i think its time to make really work....:)18:26
angelbreathand just for the records needed port 8443 in swing interface18:31
